Bacon treats and beagle books

If Walter could speak, he would tell me I don't buy bacon treats enough. What I learned about beagles, is they cannot be trusted off leash because they are scent hounds and will walk ten miles if they smell something interesting, and yes they will find something interesting. Walter got loose shortly after we got him and I had an entire church having lunch at the nearby Mexican restaurant trying to capture him. Luckily, we did twenty minutes later.
Back to bacon treats, beagles, like any dog, love them. They are excellent things to bring with you on a walk and to use as training tools. Don't let them eat too much like dad does. Shame on him, lol. My dad bought me a beagle book he found at a Goodwill store. It originally came with a training and care DVD. It has a fitting tittle, The Beagle, and is written by Diane Morgan and Wayne Hunthausen, D.V.M. Published by Terra-Nova. It's a great book for pre-beagle owners and post-beagle owners like me. I plan on adding new content to this blog and the beagle forum on the Google plus pages, and if you're into science fiction you can check out my sci-fi blog at kande4u.blogspot.com

Walter the beagle

I got my beagle at age 5, he is now age 61/2. I got him at a place in Roseburg, Oregon called Saving Grace. I was forced to give up my beloved blue heeler and golden retriever I fostered when my husband and I moved to Oregon from Washington. For months I viewed Saving Grace's website in hopes of finding a smaller companion for Kirk and I.
When I first saw Walter, I knew we had to have him. His name was Gomez and the picture they had of him only accentuated his long body. About three weeks later, my mother said she would help with the adoption fee of $120. At this time, however, someone put a $25 hold on my little man. I was on pins and needles until we received the good news that the people that put money down to hold him decided on another pet, and I knew that Walter was ours.
